Interview JACK

JACK

Interview with Vatai of H/C,Crustcore,,Grindcore Band JACK from Hungary

1. Can you tell us about your childhood? Do you remember when you first came into contact with loud music and what were your first concerts?

Hello!! I had a simple childhood, my father worked in a Cultural Center and he organized gig for Zizi Labor in 1986. that was my first experience in my age of 7.

First hardcore gigs were: Keleti Front, Dawncore, Sedative Bang in the age of 16-17.

2. can you describe the local scene where you grew up, what bands and venues were important to you and can you share some of your greatest memories about these bands/places ?

Our city – Kiskunhalas – is a small/mid city not far from Serbian border. we started organizing concerts from 1997. in Vízmű Klub with lock bands from our cities: Jack (our band) and BÖFI (great punk-rock bands) and many many from different cities. in this time – late 90’s – we wanted show reaction for green day, offspring style at h the punk music is cruel and fast. lot of great memories, but not soo unique just lot or ppl and lot of alcohol and fast music.

3. Did anyone play in any bands before Jack? If so, can you tell us something about them? Were there any releases? Can you share some good memories about those bands?

Besides Jack we had performance project: Ron Jeremy, impro-noise-joke music, nothing release. This was fun!! Always weird clothes and weird instruments.

Our drummer nowadays started another band, obituary-style metal:

He had a cool grindcore band – Advisory – but not active yet:

4. How did you come up with the band name Jack, do you describe your musical style? And can you briefly tell us the history of your band’s creation ?

The story behind the nema is very simple, Jack as Jack cable the meaning of the name:) The first thing was with the band: playing fast, aggressive punk music. We were 16-17 years old kids, around 1996-1997 and starting with covers of Exploited, Gbh, Pisols, Auróra, CPg and some original own songs. later only own traks. Some years later we found the crust/grind sctle and these music mixing in our music as nowadays.

5. Why did you want to play this genre? Who or what inspires you to write songs. What bands have inspired you the most ?

We were punk rocker kids we like very well the social critical themes, again all discriminations, slavery, anarchy. We wanted to be in this style in this lifestyle. The biggest influences were. gbh, Exploited, Los Crudos, Ratos De Porao and fro mthe hungarian bands: Auróra (Cirkáló), CPg, Marina Revue, AMD, etc.

6. can you tell us something about your upcoming split 12 Album with the band CHADHEL from Canada and your new single “Öngyilkos faj” ?

This will be killer! gT from Chadhel wrote me that they want split with us, we are happy. Firstly ee wanted 10” but final version will be 12” release. In this ptojects 6 labels 4 from our ppe 2 from overseas. Both bands with brand new stuff. It will be out in 2/3 months. killer sound from Us our mix/master by Jesse Gander from Canada!!

7. How is your relationship with the Grindcore Band from Canada CHADHEL ?

GT liked our stuffs via youtube and facebook and we started chat some emails and we liked our music. gT is a great guy, very honest and all respect to arrange this upcoming split. Hopefully if they or us go to USA or Europe we will play together sure 🙂

8. Which places to play were important to you and why ?

Every places are important, the craziest gigs were in Serbia, Czech Republic and in the last years Kripta in Budapest one of the best place with very massive moshpits and 100% underground, diy collective :))

9. What is l Jack – Show like? What can somebody expect when they go to one of your concerts?

25 minutes, fast, crazy, music with jokes and suffering.

10. Are there other types of music you would like to play with a band ?

We always try to put something unique to the music, but we are on the punk way. But Jack will be always crossover of punk, hardcore, grind, crust and some metal shit 🙂

11. which Festivals would you still like to play, and Which festivals do you have the best memories? I think the Most Beautiful Stage for Grindcore Bands, Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic will be on your bucket list ?

yes OEF were 2 times in band’s life, the first was a little bit wird also fist gi wirh the drummer – Dani – and we had some small mistakes. The 2018. were full pro set in the night with crazy people with one of the best sound in our bandlife.

In Hungary Freakend Festival was very cool to play last year too. But in Serbia, Slovakia is very strong too. Add ah, just now remember in Italy: September to Dismember Fest in Bologna was absolutely fun.
